ANKARA (NET) - Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz declared Wednesday a national holiday over the country’s national football team’s historic World Cup win against Argentine.
All employees in the public and private sectors, and students in all educational stages will have a one-day holiday, according to the state-run Saudi Press Agency.
“One of the biggest shocks in #FIFAWorldCup history,” the World Cup 2022 official account tweeted.
The Green Falcons beat Lionel Messi’s Argentina 2-1 in the World Cup Group C match Tuesday at the Lusail Stadium.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is taking place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. The small peninsular Arab country became the first Muslim country to host World Cup.
